South Africa. Anglo American Plc’s unit, Anglo Platinum, the world’s top producer of the metal, said on Wednesday that it had shut a shaft at its big Rustenburg mine in South Africa after a worker died, Reuters reported.

Simon Tebele, a spokesman for Angloplat, said the worker was killed on Tuesday after a section of the shaft in which he was working fell on him. The shaft was shut immediately to allow for investigations, he said.
